Every organization is a part of the greater system, and Woman Within must be willing to explore how we contribute to the problem and how we can be a part of the solution. We are committed to developing and preserving a safe space for our community in which all are valued. We commit to hold ourselves, and those with whom we work, accountable to our core value of inclusiveness.

Self-examination

Self-reflection lies at the heart of our work and is therefore a vital element of our approach to Diversity & Inclusion (D&I). For almost a decade our D&I team has been working to raise awareness in our community, often encountering hesitation and even resistance. Through their determination, we now have a comprehensive D&I policy and a policy mandating D&I training for all in leadership. But this is just the start, we commit to examine our blindspots and areas of growth as a community.

MEET OUR D&I TEAM

Healing

It is clear that immense trauma exists from oppression and discrimination based on differences. We are now providing Online Circles of support for women who have historically been marginalized. These include circles for Women of Color (WOC), Black Women Of Color (BWOC), Latinax Women and a Pride Circle for our LGTBQ+ community. All circles are led by women who are members of that specific community and they aim to provide a safe space for healing.

26-Day Racial Healing Journey

The Journey is a free self-guided experience towards greater understanding of racism and racial inequity. Each week has a theme and offers carefully curated materials to watch/read and questions to ponder. The materials are in a specific order, intentionally creating a Journey that goes deeper and deeper. At the end of 26 days you will have a wealth of knowledge to help you understand these issues, tackle difficult conversations and take action to effect change. The journey is available to all adults and genders.

Woman Within recognizes that gender is fluid and that traditional notions of gender identity and expression can be limiting. We are committed to welcome and support, at our programs and events, all women who self-identify and consistently live as women. This includes cisgender women, transgender women, individuals assigned female at birth who do not identify within the gender binary, and individuals assigned female at birth who have not taken medical or legal steps to identify as male.
