We would like to announce our new Director of Fundraising, Shelley Hunt-Nichols from Circles of Women South Central. Shelley has been in the Woman Within Community for 11 years and has been in circle since completing her Weekend. Shelley has staffed Weekends, sponsored women, sponsored staff and has encouraged co-workers to attend Woman Within events.
Over the years, Shelley has asked why WW runs with limited funds and doesn’t ask for donations. Then she learned that MKP leaders view their organization like a business and have abundant reserves. This knowledge stayed with her over the years and influenced her to step up and help WW raise more funds.
Together with her husband, Shelley raises private equity to purchase multi-million dollar projects in Houston. These skills will be put to effective use in securing donors and growing our community to reach more women. We are blessed to have a woman with so much business and money raising experience as our director of fundraising.
Why is Woman Within important to Shelley?
In her own words, “I am so thankful for the gifts Woman Within has offered me. Before my Weekend, I had no clue how often my child was running the show – even in business sometimes. I now can embrace my woman fully. I can handle what life throws at me in my woman and when I feel overwhelmed or afraid, I have learned that I can put little Shelley in a safe place and handle the woman’s work before me. My life has changed incredibly as I found confidence in setting boundaries, taking care of my physical body and most importantly, having a community of women. This community of women I can grow old with holds me accountable when I fall into old patterns and we work together in the healing of women.”
Shelley is also a mother of four awesome children ages 10 to 16 who fill her with immense pride and she finds it a blessing to be able to come home to every day.
Why volunteer for the Director of Fundraising position?
“I knew it was for me. I believe in what we do. I know there are so many more women to reach… and we need money to do that. I am the one to reach out and make that happen.”
As Director of Fundraising, Shelley will lead the search for funds and donations. Judy Rudin, our former Director of Fundraising, currently supports our board as Director at Large with the focus of increasing enrollment. We thank Judy for the hard work that she has given in the Fundraising role and keeping our organization funded and thank her for staying on the board in a much-needed position.
Please join us in welcoming Shelley. If you have questions about fundraising, would like to volunteer for her committee or just want to thank her for her service, you can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
