In the Eastern USA Region, a Community Weekend is held each Spring to bring women together for connection and workshops. Women from the area share their wisdom through workshops. Massages/craniosacral therapy/reiki sevices are offered with a percentage of the fees given to WWE for community funds. Silent Auctions, raffles, and a bonfire create have a whole lot of fun. Many women say it’s like a giant sleepover. It’s a time for women together to bond and it keeps women connected to community.
This year, Christie Miller was the keynote “Using your Cronage, not your Cleavage”. She spoke about the classic Snow White with a whole new twist that inspired many.
One of the biggest fundraisers at the weekend is the talent show. Women offer their talents and the audience bids on what they want to donate for each contestant. The person who raises the most dollars wins a prize and the region collects scholarship money. And you can’t miss the bonfire run by Patty Simpson on Saturday night after the talent show.
A community weekend is a great way for regions to raise money and it keeps women connected. It also gives women a chance to sit down with the board and ask questions, offer ideas and be part of the decisions that are made.
Area Events in Eastern Region USA
One of the areas in the the Woman Within Eastern USA Region, DEVA Area (Delaware Valley), also offers local events. Sarah Maier is the force behind these archetype themed events and offers her time to organize and run them. At Community Weekend, DEVA Area kicked off these events with a Mother Archetype workshop where they planted seeds to nurture while learning about the mother energy in all women.
DEVA also held a Lover event at the Grounds for Sculpture in NJ. Women had time to peruse the gardens and admire all the beautiful sculptures and then participated in a hands-on talk from Lauren Henry, a Woman Within Facilitator.
Coming up is DEVA is a Warrior event where the women will visit a wolf den and learn more about their warrior energy.
These events are possible because women step up to make them happen. Lynn Murphy as Director of Community Affairs has been the organizer for the Community Weekend and has recently turned the Community Affairs post over to Diana Behling. Thanks to Sarah Maier, Lynn Murphy, the Woman Within Eastern USA Board and dozens of women who make these events happen.
